HURACAN STO: THE BEST OF V10 LAMBORGHINI'S??

Super Trofeo Omologato, yup that’s the name of the latest Iteration of the Lamborghini Huracan, the last time we heard this name, it was the Ferrari 599 GTO, Gran Turismo Omologato, but that’s a car for another time to be discussed.

Many people might be thinking, wasn’t the Huracan Performante the Ultimate Huracan model, oh yes it was until the STO got launched, the Huracan Performante can be described as the level 1 performance car in the Huracan Line-up, the STO is the Level 2 and Level 3 are Literally the Huracan Race cars.

So what has Lamborghini done to call the STO the most extreme Huracan ever, well Lamborghini has gone all in and made the Huracan Performante even lighter and gave it more downforce, how much you may ask, well 43 kgs or 95 Pounds to be precise, that’s quite a huge reduction over the already light performante, but the main question is here, how did Lamborghini do it, how did they reduce weight from an already light car and still somehow kept it Road-Legal.

First of all is the all-wheel-drive system, the Performante had all-wheel drive, and as we know All wheel drive systems are quite heavy, so Lamborghini removed it and replaced it with a Rear-wheel drive Layout thus making the already wild Performante even wilder.

The Light alloy wheels you got on the Huracan performante have now been replaced with the even lighter magnesium wheels, making the glass thinner also helped Lamborghini shed some weight from the Performante, the front Clamshell is also new on the STO, just like it was on the Legendary Lamborghini Miura.

The engine remains the same, that 5.2 naturally aspirated V10 with 640 horsepower hasn’t gone anywhere, the other thing is the Downforce, if you thought that the wing on the Huracan Performante wasn’t big enough, then have a look at the one on the STO, it literally looks like a wing that has been straight up taken from a racecar and that’s a pretty cool thing.

We saw the presence of ALA (aerodynamica Lamborghini attiva) on the Performante, now the ALA might also be making up its way into the STO, we don’t know it yet, but it will be interesting to see the 3rd iteration of the ALA, now all these changes have resulted in the STO having 53 percent more downforce than the Performante, the Numbers are staggering, to say the least, but will these numbers help the STO perform on the road, will they Help it re-claim the Nurburgring title the Huracan Performante once held, these are questions that only time will be able to answer…….

Thank you everyone for giving this a read.

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year!
